A new study shows that the use of plastic or glass roof coating is more economical than other materials, but it’s still important to consider the environmental impact of the materials.
The researchers, led by researchers at the University of British Columbia, found that plastic roof coatations had higher energy and environmental impacts than other types of plastic.
“This study shows the need for better understanding of the impacts of the material on the environment,” lead researcher Dr. Robert K. Lee said in a press release.
“The more we understand, the better we can improve our strategies and policies to reduce the impact of these materials in our buildings.”
The research is published in the Journal of Engineering and Physical Therapy.
