The cost of a roof coating for Rented roofs has gone up by Rs 1.5 lakh as more companies use waterproof coating to protect the roofs, which is being deployed across the country.
“The waterproof roof coat is made of glass and it is not waterproof, so if it rains, the water can penetrate the glass,” said Rakesh Thakur, managing director at G.B. Gwalior.
“We have to install waterproof coverages in all our buildings in the city.
We have to use water to cover the roofs.
We are now looking at installing waterproof covers in all the city’s buildings,” he added.
In Uttar Pradesh, the government is installing water resistant roofs to help reduce the spread of water.
According to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kanpur, the cost of installing water-resistant roof coating in all city’s residential areas is around Rs 5 lakh.
“There are a number of cities where water resistant roof coating has been installed and we are in the process of installing them in the cities,” said Anuja Sharma, senior vice president and managing director, IIT Kanpur.
“The cost of the coating is Rs 10,000-15,000,” she added.
“A few years back, it was around Rs 4 lakh and now it is around the Rs 3 lakh mark,” Sharma said.
While many companies are opting for water resistant coatings for Rents, there are many others who are using roof coating instead.
Rented homes are a common sight in many cities across India, but they are now being seen in a new light, with more people opting for a roof cover instead of a rain cover.
The cost for a rooftop coating in India has gone from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1 crore.
“This is a very big deal and it shows how the Indian government is paying attention to the people,” said Sharma.
“It shows the government will respond in a timely manner.”
